2028 U.S. Centerfire World Championship Selection Process:

 1.  Everyone wishing to be a candidate for selection to the 2028 US Team will be required to register on the USPRA website and pay a fee to have their scores tracked, making them eligible for team consideration. For any score to count towards the selection application, candidates must be paid and registered by 10 pm CST the day before the start date of the respective match. The registration to be a candidate for the 2028 US Team selection can be found at www.usprecisionrifle.org

2.  For every division, the selection period will commence one week after the conclusion of the 2026 World Championship, starting on October 3, 2026. It will conclude in the spring of 2028, no later than 150 days before the commencement of the 2028 World Championship. Once the date for the 2028 World Championship is released, the end date for the selection period will be published.

3.  All match scores submitted will be based on 50% hit percentage of the winner and 50% placement percentage of all shooters attending the match with at least 1 impact or more.

4. There will be 12 matches over the selection period designated as USPRA Qualifier matches, in addition to the 2026 and 2027 PRS Finales, making a total of 14 qualifier matches.

5. For 2026, the KRG Windbreaker (West) and the PRS Finale (Central) will be the only qualifier matches.

6. For 2027, there will be at least 9 qualifier matches. These will be announced once the 2027 PRS Schedule is released.

7. For 2028, depending on the exact date of the 2028 World Championship, there will be potentially 1-2 qualifier matches in the spring.

8. In the requirements for each division, anywhere the word “qualifier” is mentioned, it is referring to matches that the USPRA has designated as qualifiers, not PRS Qualifiers.

9. Only PRS matches that are shot in The United States can count towards your application. This is to ensure you are primarily competing against other US citizens for the US Team.

10. Participants can only submit one score per range for the entire selection period, with the exception of the finale locations.

Open:

  1. Participants must submit scores from at least 6 USPRA Qualifier matches.
  2. Among the 6 matches, one must be a finale, and at least one must be a qualifier match from each region (East, Central, & West).
  3. Scores from every qualifier match and finale attended during the selection period must be submitted. Even if a participant does not finish or is disqualified from a match, they must still report their total number of impacts on the application, as well as their placement.
  4. If an applicant attended more than 5 qualifiers and one finale, they can designate up to two qualifier scores on the application as "throw away." These scores will not be used to calculate the shooter's average score. However, this designation is only allowed if the remaining matches on the application still meet the minimum requirements (e.g., one from each region, one finale, etc.).
  5. All scores on the application (minus any possible “throw away” scores) will be averaged together to select the top shooters for open division.
  6. Your top finale score cannot count as your top finale and as a qualifier for that region both. Your second finale score can be used as a qualifier score in the region it was shot in. If a shooter attends both PRS Finales, they can choose one of the following options for the lowest Finale score;  The score can be used as your one Finale score.  The score can be counted as a Qualifier score for the region it was shot in.  The score can be dropped without counting as a “throw away”.
  7. An applicant can shoot a qualifier match without it counting towards their USPRA application. In order to do so, the applicant must notify the USPRA via email (cfselection@usprecisionrifle.org), by 12 pm CST on the Saturday a week prior to the match, of their intent to shoot the match as a non-qualifier.

Limited:

  1. Participants must submit their top 6 scores from the selection period.
  2. Among the top 6 scores, at least three must be from qualifier matches in two different regions (East, Central, or West). Finale matches will count as qualifiers for the region they’re shot in.
  3. The total of the top 6 matches will be calculated to determine the top shooters for this division.
  4. For Limited Team eligibility, all scores must be shot using a .308 in the PRS Tactical division, and the total application score must be a minimum of 460.00.
  5. 5. Any spots not filled on the Limited teams will be filled by the next highest open application

Factory:

  4. For Factory Team eligibility, all scores must be shot using a PRS Production rifle in the Production division or with an IPRF approved Factory rifle. The total application score must be a minimum of 510.00.
  5. Any spots not filled on the Factory teams will be filled by the next highest open application.

**Submitting Scores for Factory Team with IPRF Factory Approved Rifle:**

  • Before your first match of the selection period, send a picture of the rifle, including its caliber and serial number, to info.uspra@gmail.com
  • At every match where you want to use that rifle and have it count as a score for the Factory Team on your application, have someone record the last 15 seconds or so of any one stage you are shooting. Once you have fired the last round, and the weapon is safe, pick up a piece of fired brass from the gun and show it to the camera. Send that video to the same email address mentioned above.
  • The reason for this requirement is to ensure the validity of submitted scores for the Factory Team, especially since many IPRF Factory rifles may fall into the open division in the PRS. By providing the rifle information and the specified video, the USPRA can verify that the submitted score is valid for the Factory Team. This is not an issue if you are shooting in the PRS Production division, because your score will be indicated as "Production" instead of “Open” on the PRS website.

Seniors:

  1. Participants must submit their top 6 scores from the selection period.
  2. Among the top 6 scores, at least one must be from a finale, and at least two must be from qualifier matches in two different regions (East, Central, or West).
  3. The total of the top 6 matches will be calculated to determine the top shooters for this division.
  4. Participants can only submit one match score per range for the entire selection period, excluding PRS finale locations.
  5. Your top finale score cannot count as your top finale and as a qualifier for that region both. Your second finale score can be used as a qualifier score in the region it was shot in.

Ladies and Juniors:

  1. Participants must submit their top 5 scores from the selection period.
  2. Among the top 5 scores, at least one must be from a finale.
  3. The other finale score can be used as a regular season score.

Mil/LEO:

  1. Participants must submit their top 8 scores from the selection period (finale counts as 2 scores).
  2. Among the top 8 scores, at least one must be from a finale.
  3. Shooters can either submit 1 finale and 6 regular season match scores or 2 finale and 4 regular season match scores on their application.
  4. Participants can only submit one match score per range, per year, for the selection period, with the exception of the finale.
  5. Once the location of the World Championship is announced, there will be a 60 day period in which any Service Members affected by the above restrictions will be allowed to register as a candidate for selection and any of their scores to count from the start of the selection period until the day they register. 60 days will allow enough time for Service Members to gain unit level approval and for government purchase requests to be processed appropriately. If they do not register within the 60 day period, then they will not be allowed to use any scores until the day they register.
