The USPRA Board is pleased to announce the qualification process for the 2027 Team USA Rimfire squad. Based on community feedback from the previous cycle, we’ve refined the process to create a fair, streamlined, and accessible path to qualification. The format for the 2027 selection process will consist of four two-day matches spread throughout the country during the calendar year 2026. 

Under the new format, your overall qualification score will be determined by your best three match results from the four two-day qualifiers. These events will be spaced across the country—from Utah to West Virginia—to provide accessibility for participants nationwide. Additionally, the qualification period has been condensed to run from March 2026 through September 2026, allowing the team to be selected approximately 11 months prior to the World Tournament. This timeline gives competitors, particularly Factory Division candidates, ample time to coordinate with manufacturers and secure their factory rifles. 

The changes to the process from the previous selection were driven by several themes gathered via feedback sessions with 2025 candidates and team members.  First, it ensures that candidates compete directly against one another by driving more consistent participation at each match by all candidates. Second, many candidates expressed interest in a process that reduces travel costs and time away from work, as well as forgoing the need to attend and qualify through multiple national organization championship matches We appreciate the participation and feedback we have received and believe this to be the best process for the 2027 selection period. As always, we look forward to learning from this round of qualifications and listening to feedback from candidates once the qualification process has concluded.
